Google Search Console: setup, diagnosis, and reporting that actually goes somewhere

EU-registered · GDPR / DPA on request · Access by invite, matched to the task · Fixed price · EN/UK/RU/PL

A Google Search Console expert sets up, reads and acts on Google's own reports for your site, turning indexing problems, warnings and traffic drops into a prioritized fix list.

We work through every GSC report with you, translate warnings into plain-language action items, and hand you a prioritized fix list. The decision on indexing, manual-action revocation, or ranking always stays with Google.

What we do

Three different things sit on this page and they need different rights. Reading the reports and saying what they mean needs read access only. Setting things up inside Search Console, the property, the user permissions, the sitemap, the export, needs owner rights and is agreed step by step before anything is changed. Changing the site itself, the code, the content management system, the redirects, is not part of this service: that is Technical SEO, quoted separately.

Setup and verification done right
We choose between a Domain property and a URL-prefix property for your situation and prepare the exact verification record, whether that is a DNS entry, a file or a tag on the site. Verification happens on your side, because the record lives in your hosting or your domain settings. Changing user permissions, linking Google Analytics and associating properties are owner-level actions: we either walk you through them on your own screen or perform them under rights you grant for that step. None of this runs on read-only rights, and no password ever changes hands.
Report-by-report interpretation
Performance, Index Coverage, Sitemaps, Core Web Vitals, Manual Actions, Security Issues, Removals, and Shopping or Merchant listings where relevant. Every flagged item becomes a plain-language action: what it means, why it matters, and which cluster to address first. You get a prioritized list, not a wall of raw data.
Indexing diagnosis with URL Inspection
We use URL Inspection and the live test to separate the six common non-indexed states: crawled but not indexed, discovered but not indexed, duplicate without canonical, soft-404, noindex, and robots-blocked. Each cluster has a different root cause and a different fix path. We map which state each affected URL is in and document the validation steps.
Manual action and security issue recovery support
We read the notice against the relevant Google guidelines, scope exactly what triggered it, and work through a cleanup checklist. We then help structure a well-documented reconsideration request. The decision to revoke a manual action or clear a security flag is Google's, and we say that plainly from the start.
Validate-fix workflow and Core Web Vitals triage
We start validation on the right report for the state you actually fixed, so a fix is not left cycling back to unresolved because the wrong loop was running. Validation tells Google to re-check those URLs; it does not decide indexing, and that decision stays Google's. For the Core Web Vitals report we triage by URL group and attribute INP, LCP, and CLS failures to the most likely layer, whether that is the theme, images, third-party scripts, or hosting, so your developer has a starting point rather than a mystery.
Data retention beyond the 16-month limit
Google Search Console stores roughly 16 months of search performance data. The Search Console to BigQuery bulk export writes a daily batch into a BigQuery dataset on your own Google Cloud project, so the data accumulates on your side from the day it is switched on. It does not bring back what Search Console has already dropped: history past the limit cannot be recovered, by us or by anyone. Switching the export on is an owner-level action in Search Console, and the Google Cloud project with its billing stays yours. Year-on-year comparison becomes possible once the export has been running that long.

Google Search Console Service Pricing

The Start tier costs €199 and covers property setup, verification and a walkthrough of the key reports; the owner-level steps inside it are agreed with you before they are taken. Professional at €399 adds full report-by-report interpretation and a site-wide indexing diagnosis. Expert at €750 adds manual-action and security recovery support plus BigQuery retention beyond the 16-month limit.

The express review is free. Tiers scale from setup to recovery, not by guesswork.

No lock-in. Your Search Console stays yours.

Reading and diagnosis run on a read-only invite you can revoke in one click. Setup, user permissions, sitemap submission and the BigQuery export are owner-level actions that read-only rights cannot perform: they happen either in your own hands with us on the call, or under rights you grant for that one step and take back afterwards, agreed in writing before anything is changed. Everything that gets configured lives in your own accounts. The express review happens before any payment, and the fix list is written so you can hand it to your own developer, your existing agency, or implement it yourself.

What the deliverable looks like

Every tier ends with a written document and a call, not a raw data dump. This is the shape of a typical report.

Illustrative example, not a real client report

  1. 1

Classified URL list, grouped by indexing state

Every affected URL sorted into its state: crawled but not indexed, discovered but not indexed, duplicate without canonical, soft-404, noindex, robots-blocked. Each cluster carries a severity level, so you see at a glance what to fix first and what can wait.

  2. 2

A fix and validation path for each cluster

In plain language: what to change, who typically changes it, and which validation to start in Search Console so the fix actually registers instead of cycling back to unresolved.

  3. 3

A walkthrough call, run as owner training

We read the Pages, Performance and Core Web Vitals reports together on your own property. The goal is that the next warning does not require hiring anyone: you will know what it means and whether it needs action.

  4. 4

30 days of implementation Q&A on the Expert tier

While your developer works through the list, questions about specific items get answered along the way instead of piling up for another engagement.

Recognize yourself?

These are real Search Console situations clients come to us with. If even one sounds familiar, the diagnosis will show what to fix.

"Page is not indexed" and you don't know which of six states it is in
Crawled but not indexed, discovered but not indexed, duplicate without a canonical, soft-404, noindex set by accident, robots-blocked. Each one has a completely different fix. Without knowing which state your pages are in, any action you take is a guess. This is the most common GSC misread we see, and it is also the most expensive to leave alone.
Search Console shows warnings you can't translate into actions
"Valid with warnings," thousands of excluded URLs, coverage errors that do not match what you see on the page. GSC gives you the signal but not the interpretation. Most site owners open the report, see the numbers, and close the tab because nothing in the interface tells you what to do next.
A manual action or security issue appeared and traffic fell sharply
The notice is vague, the guidelines are long, and filing a reconsideration request before the site is actually clean costs you weeks of waiting only to get rejected again. Getting this wrong is more expensive than the time it takes to get it right.
The Core Web Vitals report is red and you don't know who to blame
Field data in GSC shows LCP, INP, or CLS failing, but PageSpeed Insights says the page is fast. Lab data and field data measure different things under different conditions. Before you ask your developer to fix something, you need to know whether the problem is in the theme, in images, in a third-party script, or in hosting under real-world load.
"Search Console shows nothing" or barely any data at all
This is almost always a setup problem: wrong property type chosen, verification that silently failed, no sitemap submitted, or a brand-new property still in its first few weeks of data backfill. For Russian-speaking businesses already operating without Yandex, losing Google visibility entirely is not a recoverable situation without quick diagnosis.
Traffic dropped and the Performance report isn't telling you why
The chart fell. Was it a core update, a specific page group losing rank, a query cluster disappearing, a country-level shift, or plain seasonality? Teasing these apart inside the Performance report takes a clear diagnostic method. For a business whose only search channel is Google, an unexplained drop is worth taking apart rather than waiting out.
An agency "manages" your Search Console but you've never seen it act on anything
Monthly screenshots of the Performance chart, no coverage triage, no validate-fix loop run, no indexing issues addressed. Search Console is not a reporting tool you glance at once a month. It is a work queue, and a screenshot of the Performance chart does not show whether anyone worked it.

Who actually does the work

Search Console engagements are led by the founder: a participant in the Google Product Experts program with a public directory profile, working inside a Google Partner agency (partner ID 1958605533) active since 2015. The legal entity behind every contract is CyberLab.Team OÜ, Estonian registry code 14647320. No anonymous juniors and no outsourced ticket queue.

What does a typical engagement look like?

An online store owner wrote to us after new category pages stopped appearing on Google. The free express review showed a Pages report full of excluded URLs with no obvious pattern, so we classified every affected URL by indexing state. Most turned out to be duplicates without a user-selected canonical, created by filter parameters. A second cluster sat in crawled but not indexed. A handful of key pages carried a leftover noindex from a staging plugin.

The fix list ordered the clusters by impact, named the exact settings to change, and specified which validation to start in Search Console after each fix. On the walkthrough call we read the Pages and Performance reports together so the owner could repeat the checks later. Once the leftover noindex was removed and validation passed, those pages were eligible again and Google reindexed most of them over the following weeks; whether a page is indexed stays Google's decision. The duplicate clusters began consolidating in the same period.

An anonymized example of our process, not a promise of results.

Ways to get Search Console help

Free Google Search Central forums work well for one-off questions. A marketplace freelancer can be enough for a narrow setup task if you can vet and manage the work yourself. A fixed-scope specialist fits when you want one accountable party and a written diagnosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a "Google Search Console expert" actually do that I can't do myself? +
You can read the reports yourself, and GSC is designed to be accessible. The gap is in interpretation and method. Knowing that 1,400 URLs are in the "Discovered, currently not indexed" state is not the same as knowing whether that is a crawl-budget problem, a site-quality signal, a content issue, or a sitemap error, and which fix to run first. What we bring is the method for telling which cluster your case falls into and what the fix looks like, rather than leaving you to work through it by trial and error.
How is this different from your SEO Site Audit, and do I need both? +
The SEO Site Audit takes a wide view: technical health, content quality, backlink profile, competitor gap analysis. Google Search Console is one of several data sources it uses. This service goes deep into the GSC tool itself: every report, every flagged item, every indexing state, the validate-fix workflow, and data retention. If your primary problem is inside Search Console, start here. If you need a full picture including backlinks and competitive positioning, the SEO Site Audit covers more ground. Some clients do both in sequence.
How long does the whole engagement take? +
Two clocks run here, and only one of them is ours. Our part, the diagnosis and the written fix list, is delivered in 3-5 business days on Start and Professional and in 5-10 on Expert, depending on the size of the property. The steps Google controls are different: indexing pickup after a fix, validate-fix cycles, and reconsideration reviews all move on Google's schedule, and no one can promise those timelines. The plan separates the two clearly so you know which dates depend on us and which do not.
Can you guarantee my page gets indexed? +
No. Indexing is Google's decision, and no one outside Google can guarantee it. What we can do is identify the specific reason a page is not indexed, apply the correct fix for that state, submit the URL for reindexing, and monitor the validate-fix loop. Once the technical cause is removed, most pages do move into the index, but the timing and the final decision remain with Google.
Do you need access to my Search Console, and how does that work? +
Yes, and how much depends on what you order. Reading the reports and diagnosing runs on a restricted read-only invite, and that covers the whole Professional tier. Creating or verifying a property, changing user permissions, submitting a sitemap and switching on the BigQuery export are owner-level actions that read-only rights cannot perform: those we either walk you through on your own screen, or perform under rights you grant for that step and revoke afterwards, agreed before the work starts. Verification itself happens on your side of the site, because it needs a DNS record, a file or a tag. We request access by email invite through the Google Search Console permissions panel, the same way you would add any team member. We never ask for your Google account password. Access is scoped to the specific property and the specific team members on your project. You can revoke it with one click at any time. We are EU-registered (CyberLab.Team OÜ, Estonia) and operate under GDPR. A Data Processing Agreement is available on request.
My Search Console "shows nothing" or has almost no data. What's wrong? +
There are several common causes. A URL-prefix property can verify successfully but miss data if the wrong scope was chosen (http vs https, www vs non-www). A Domain property may have verification that silently fails after a DNS change. A missing or malformed sitemap means pages are not being presented to Google systematically. A brand-new property is also normal: GSC backfills around 16 months of data, but a recently connected property starts with very little. We work through each possibility and find the actual gap.
Domain property vs URL-prefix property: which should I use and does it matter? +
It matters a lot. A Domain property covers all protocols and subdomains under a root domain (www, non-www, https, http, subdomains) and is verified only via DNS. A URL-prefix property covers one specific URL prefix, verified by DNS, HTML file, HTML tag, Google Analytics, or GTM. If your site has meaningful traffic on both www and non-www, or if you use subdomains for different language versions, a Domain property gives you the complete picture. Most sites should use Domain properties, but the DNS verification requirement stops people from setting them up correctly.
The Pages report says "Crawled, currently not indexed." What does that mean and can you fix it? +
It means Google visited the page, was able to read it, and chose not to include it in the index. The cause is rarely a single technical setting. Google may have judged the content too thin, too similar to other pages on your site, or not useful enough to rank for anything in particular. It can also be a signal from accumulated low-quality pages elsewhere on the same domain. We look at the affected URL group, assess the likely signal, and recommend either a content improvement path, a consolidation approach, or a different canonical strategy.
What is the difference between "Discovered, not indexed" and "Crawled, not indexed", and should I just hit Request Indexing on all of them? +
Discovered, not indexed means Google found the URL (usually from a sitemap or internal link) but has not visited it yet. That is often a crawl-budget or internal-linking signal. Crawled, not indexed means Google visited but chose not to include the page. They are different diagnoses with different fixes. Hitting Request Indexing on large volumes of pages does not address the underlying cause and provides only a temporary signal. For most sites, working on the root cause produces more durable results than manually requesting individual URLs.
I got a manual action or security issue notice. Can you get it lifted? +
We can help you prepare a clean, well-documented reconsideration request, but the decision to revoke a manual action is Google's and can take several weeks to months. The most common reason reconsideration requests fail is that the underlying issue was not fully cleaned up before submitting. We scope the trigger carefully, work through the cleanup checklist, and structure the request in line with what Google's guidelines specify. What we cannot do is promise the outcome or the timeline.
Google chose a different canonical than the one I specified. What does that mean and what should I do? +
When Google ignores your canonical tag and selects a different URL as the preferred version, it usually means Google found a stronger signal pointing elsewhere: a redirect, internal links pointing to a different URL, the sitemap listing a different version, or a hreflang tag pointing to an alternate. Your stated canonical is treated as a hint, not an instruction. We identify which competing signal is winning and help you bring them into alignment so Google picks up your intended canonical.
My Core Web Vitals report is red, but PageSpeed Insights says the page is fast. Which is correct? +
Both can be correct because they measure different things. PageSpeed Insights (lab mode) simulates a single load under controlled conditions. The GSC Core Web Vitals report uses field data: real-user measurements from Chrome across all devices and connection types on your site over the past 28 days. A page can pass the lab test and still fail field data if most real visitors are on slow mobile connections, if a slow third-party script runs in the background, or if layout shift happens during a scroll interaction that the lab does not replicate. Field data is what Google uses for ranking signals.
Can you help me figure out why my traffic dropped using the Performance report? +
Yes, and this is one of the more methodical things we do. The Performance report can show you whether the drop affected all queries or a specific cluster, all countries or one market, all page types or one section of the site. We look at whether impressions fell alongside clicks or clicks fell while impressions held. That gives a direction to check rather than a verdict: the first points at the index or at rankings, the second at the snippet, and either can also come from seasonality or a changed results layout. We also cross-reference against known Google update dates to tell you whether what you are seeing is a broad algorithm shift or something specific to your site.
GSC only keeps about 16 months of data. Can you set up longer retention? +
Yes. The Search Console to BigQuery bulk export is a scheduled daily export, not a live stream: once a day it writes the previous day's data into a BigQuery dataset on your own Google Cloud project. From the day it is switched on you own that data and can keep it for as long as you pay for the storage. What it cannot do is reach backwards: search history that has already passed the 16-month limit is gone, and no export, ours or anyone else's, restores it. We configure the export, set up appropriate permissions, and optionally connect a Looker Studio dashboard for trend analysis. The BigQuery and Google Cloud project remain yours; we never hold your data.
I'm on WordPress. Should I order this or your WordPress SEO audit? +
If the problem you are trying to solve lives inside the Search Console interface, such as indexing states, manual actions, validate-fix loops, or data retention, order this service. If your problem is at the WordPress platform layer, things like plugin conflicts, taxonomy duplication, permalink changes, theme-level Core Web Vitals, or Yoast and Rank Math configuration, the WordPress SEO audit is the right fit. They answer different questions, and where the checks do overlap we run them once rather than billing them twice. Some clients run both.
I care about appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Is that covered here? +
Not directly. This page is about the Google Search Console tool and its reports: search performance, indexing, and Core Web Vitals. Ranking and getting cited inside Google AI Overviews and AI Mode is covered by our separate AI SEO service. Visibility inside AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity is our AI Visibility service. Search Console is where Google's own signals about your site are visible, which makes it a useful data source for that work rather than something you have to buy first; those are separate engagements.
Why not just hire a cheap freelancer or a marketplace gig? +
For a narrow one-off task, such as verifying a property or submitting a sitemap, a marketplace gig can be enough if you can vet the seller and manage the work yourself. Free help exists too: the Google Search Central community answers one-off questions well. What you get here instead is a fixed written scope, one accountable EU-registered counterparty with a DPA available on request, access by email invite, matched to the task and revocable, instead of handing over a password, and coverage that runs from setup through diagnosis to recovery support. Which route fits depends on how much is at stake for your site.
Do you offer ongoing monthly Search Console monitoring afterwards? +
This is a one-time, fixed-scope engagement, not a subscription. If you want ongoing monitoring, we can scope it on request, and for local businesses it can sit inside our Small Business Promotion retainer. That said, the walkthrough call is deliberately built as training: after it, most owners can run the regular Pages, Performance and Core Web Vitals checks themselves without hiring anyone. If something unusual then appears, you know where to find us.
Can you train me or my team to read Search Console ourselves? +
Yes. The walkthrough call included in every tier doubles as training. We go through your own property's Pages, Performance and Core Web Vitals reports and show the interpretation method: which numbers matter, which states need action, and which warnings are safe to leave alone. Google designed Search Console to be readable by site owners; what most people lack is the method, not the access. After the call you should be able to repeat the same checks on your own.
GSC flags Shopping or Merchant Center listing issues. Is that covered? +
We identify and classify Shopping and Merchant listing flags as part of the report interpretation, so you know what triggered them and how serious they are. Deep product-feed and catalog work is a separate discipline: organic product visibility belongs to our E-commerce SEO service, and Merchant Center plus paid Shopping campaigns belong to our Google Ads for E-commerce service. If the flags point that way, the report says so and you decide who implements.
What is NOT included, and do I have to hire you to implement the fixes? +
The deliverable is a written diagnosis and a prioritized action plan, with a walkthrough call. We do not write content, build links, or make changes inside your WordPress installation, Google Ads account, or CMS. Implementation is quoted separately based on the fix list and involves no obligation. Many clients implement with their own developer or their existing agency, using the report directly. We name the exact price after the free express review, typically within one business day.
